It almost sounds like since you want the skill update then nothing else matters. that might be fine for you. But for the people that actually like this game we appreciate everything they do and are not so hung up on we deserve everything free. You can sit there and say they failed. But in reality you failed you failed to understand this is a game and your supposed to have fun doing it if you can't please find another game.

Are the costumes perfect ...no. I have an issue with the size of the Mantle Symbol. But other then that I think they are great I also realize more is coming out. You got a big skill balance not to long ago with the death of crazy perma Farming I notice that most that say this type of content fails most seem to be hardcore PvPers, sorry the game does not revolve around you, but the gamers as a whole.

It always surprises me and irritates me how people always seem to have to have something to complain or whine about. I will say that Guru2 seems a more mature group. GW has to make money or it Will end. if it can not pay for the servers and the Live team I am sure they would not operate a negative income game. I am sorry for those of you that feel slighted by the costumes. Again I am glad you represent a small slice of the GW community and most of us appreciate the effort they go through for a game we all love. If you don't love or even like the game why are you here? It would be truly sad if this was your idea of fun was just to be confrontational.

They're releasing new costumes already? They still haven't fixed the last batch of costumes so they show up properly on the character selection screen yet!

Regina or anyone from anet [if reads this] I'd like to know why is it that anet are able to give away free costume keys seperately yet support/online shop won't allow me to buy several keys to give to friends as gifts? surely the possible lost revenue from this would make them think twice? just wondered.

EDIT: online games such as Sins of a Solar Empire, although an rts, allowed me to buy keys for buddies in which they received the email. must be some money being made if they allow that option uh

Uhm, no. If I choose to farm my ass off for some elite, or to pay real money for a costume. I do so because I think my character will look good in it. Not to try and impress other players.

I wonder why some people post on the forums of a game they obviously hate..srsly though got nothing better to do? Its just 2 costumes that are cosmetic and NOONE forces you to buy them! And GW has no sub! Play it till you get bored of it and then go play another game! You can always come back whenever you feel like it or when something new is released since you dont pay for a monthly fee. Plus Anet is a company and the goal of a company is to make profit. IMO their online store is the ideal one for every MMO out there. Not tons of useless stuff and nothing that gives an advantage.

Back on topic: Can anyone post a pic of the White Mantle costume (Male version) with the head of Dwayna's Regalia?

I think the costumes are nice, just one thing that is keeping me from buying it is the white mantle costume CAPE, it is way to static for my taste and it just looks a bit wrong.

i dont mind giving anet money for crap,they still support the game wich i think is amazing,ive played the game for over 4 and half years and its only cost me £120 if i played wow for that amout of time £450+,and its £5.99 the price of a double whopper and cheese or a packet of cigarettes

i'll buy them fairly soon before the duo offer ends.

i don't like them. i think they look like shit compared to the last costumes.

if you also know me you know i don't care at all for skins. so that may skew my bias a little.

i hope the artists at anet can come up with something better looking.

i know they're talented. i'm not saying the wintersday shit was great. but it was "original". these, imo, are not. to me they appear as a ranger and a vabbian.
i hope anet will learn from their mistakes.
you, anet, implement a "viral marketing" scheme that ends up evolving into something fairly larger than you anticipated due to dedicated fanboys (#reform, "i <3 WM", etc) and you provoke & prod the community to get them even more creative & interested yet fail to evolve with it? i understand you had original plans and you don't have many resources to work with so evolving with the community would be a challenge...but you missed out on a HUGE opportunity.
i hope i get some sort of a special quest/instance that you can only access if you are wearing a WM disguise.
why? because then i'm not paying for a ranger/vabbi skin. i'm paying for actual content. and YOU, anet, can say we're implementing new content. sure, people will cry "oh its not free, its a scam"... no, it's paying 10$ for access to a new "area" (and i use the term area verrry loosely). if the players still qq about 10$ tell them to go pay 15/mnth for wow & drop 25$ for a shiny horse. besides, even if it used recycled areas (eotn dungeons anyone?) and foes (you already have peacekeepers) i think you will make lots of people happy and give them something new to do & brood over (for the lorejunkies)

anet since you've set my bday expectations so high with the 4th yr additions and this new "beyond viral" shit, i'll let you know exactly what i'm expecting:

-2 new npc's to be placed in LA/gates of kryta/toa (somewhere in that region)
-speaking to the "farmer" npc whilst wearing ShiningBlade garb will allow me to access:

1.an instance where we raid either a justiciar's stronghold & can get a chest with a new skin
2.a mursaat stronghold (so we have to be infused to succeed) based somewhere in kryta where we can get a chest with a new skin

-speaking to the "peacekeeper" npc whilst wearing Disguise garb will allow me to access:

1. an instance where we raid the Shining Blade Camp & can get a chest with a new skin (salma et al will be away @ a meeting when we raid)
2. an instance/quest where we "peacekeep" some farmers spread out in a zone and are met with ShiningBlade ambushers (am fah style) that can drop a new skin (.03% drop plz)

-require all party members be wearing the appropriate costume (full set not just hood).

you'll profit. i'll get a new skin to farm & sell. lorejunkies will get more to speculate about. the whole playerbase will get some new content. win win.

From what I've seen in a few outposts, the White Mantle female costume* looks way better in-game than in the company screenshots. The avatar they chose is ugly imo and doesn't do the costume justice.

*Without the headpiece of course.

One of these things doesn't belong. If you don't like them and hate the idea of microtransactions, DON'T BUY THEM! It WILL be the way of the future if people who don't like these and don't like microtransactions give up hope in something better and show them microtransactions are profitable.

Huh. Well, now that I've got a degree of distance from the game, I can look at this without gettin' all angry.

They're nice-looking costumes. Good graphics, too, a bit sharper detail, I think, than some of the old stuff.

And you know what? If people want to buy them, they can go ahead and do that. Personally I like getting free ingame content added with updates but I understand that they're needing funds (unlike certain other devs that are looking into microtransactions even though they're bloody rich a'ready...) and hey, if people are willing to pay for'm I see no reason why they oughtn't have'm. It nets ANet a bit of cash and that gives them what they need to make serious updates (theoretically, at least).

It would be more frustrating, I imagine, if it was just this and no new content, but seein's they're releasing content that might actually get me back in f'ra while I say they've finally recovered from their two-year bout of utter lameness.

On a side note, I think it's funny to see the cycles people go through with their relationship with ANet. They start out in love with the game, get to a point a couple years in where they'll defend the devs even though they do see some flaws in the game, and finally descend into cynicism/flee to other games/resign themselves to the way of things. Oh, and if they've been around long enough they get over it and figure it's great the game's still up and running.

Also, @Shemsu: Of course GW2Guru seems more mature ATM. GW2's at a good place for the fans right now. The spectres of vaporware have been banished, and we have some clue what is going on. But the game hasn't been released yet, much less been out long enough for the players to have been abused. The people on 2Guru are the people who were still interested enough in GW and hyped enough for 2 to already get their accounts there. I'd imagine most of them are still willing to put up with ANet in GW1.

But mark me, once 2's out long enough for ANet to slip back into its pattern of iffy updates or worse, complete inactivity, and there will be all manners of whining, griping, and QQing, and not entirely without merit. The fact of the matter is that they really *have* abused the playerbase a bit. They tell us they're doing the best they can, but I've now seen how well MMO devs can treat their customers if they so choose, and ANet's a far cry from that. The trouble is that I think ANet *is* doing the best they can with the resources they have; it's just not possible to really do well by the playerbase without attaching a subscription fee. So we're faced with either paying a monthly for high-quality service or taking what we can get for free. I'm willing to pay a monthly; other people aren't. It's a choice.

Frankly, I think GW turned out quite well given the circumstances, but we've got to accept that its model just isn't cut out for the long-term. And unless people make that connection and start regarding it more like a singleplayer RPG franchise with added benefits, there will be QQ, both in GW and GW2.

I haven't purchased the latest costumes, but turning off anti-aliasing usually helps with the Grenth costume and EotN stuff.

We shouldn't need to disable anti-aliasing or anything else unless we are experiencing performance issues. This isn't a performance issue and it's definitely not breaking the game. It's just annoying. It would be slightly less annoying if they weren't asking us to whip out our credit cards for glitchy content.

It's 2010 and a lot of people have graphics cards that are capable of handling a game like GW with anti-aliasing turned on. Why on earth would Anet see what these costumes and armors look like with anti-aliasing on and give them the green light? Maybe I'm crazy, but I think the game should look better with everything enabled and set to high, not worse.

The worst part about this is that Anet actually has a lot of talented artists working for them! You can look at the costumes and tell that they weren't made by amateurs. The only thing I have a problem with is the sparkly crap that has been plaguing content since EotN.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I feel like content that's offered in the online store should be as close to flawless as it can get.

I actually like the Shining Blade costume, but I am the owner of a decent graphics card and I'm not a Twilight fan. They should try to correct this problem so I can give them my money!

(Don't know what I'm talking about? Put on the Grenth or Shining Blade costume and rotate your camera. A lot of the male EotN armor does the same. The monument set for ranger is a good example. Zoom out when you rotate the camera for glitter bomb!)
